FAQ
Clear answers.
Does the app know my door is locked?
No. It records what you checked and when. It can't see your door or your stove, and it doesn't lock or switch off anything for you. With Plus, Apple Home can report the state of a compatible lock, and you still confirm it yourself.
What does Hold to lock do?
Check your items the way you always do, then press and hold the big green button for about a second. The app checks off every item on your list in order and saves the exact time. If you let go too early, nothing is recorded. The name describes the moment you lock up. The button records your check.
How long does a check stay checked?
A check stays checked until the time you set for that list runs out. Leaving now is set to 8 hours, and you can change it in the list's settings, from 1 hour up to 3 days. It clears sooner if you start a new check at the same place or add an item to the list. With Plus you can also turn on Reset when I return, and the check clears when you get back to that place. After that, Home and your widgets say when you last checked, like "Last checked yesterday at 8:46 AM." Activity still shows the check with its date and time.
Does the app track my location?
No. Departure reminders only notice when you arrive at or leave a place you saved. There's no continuous tracking and no location history.
What does an NFC tag store?
Your own tag stores a random code. The app keeps only a scrambled copy of that code, linked to the item it belongs to.
Can I use the free version without an account?
Yes. You get one place and one list with as many items as you like, a week of Activity and a small widget. There are no ads or tracking, and nothing asks you to pay before your first check.
Where are photos kept?
On your iPhone, or in your private iCloud when you turn on sync with Plus. Photos are shrunk and their location data is removed. Thumbnails are blurred, and you choose how long photos are kept.
Can a widget, Siri or my Watch record a check?
Widgets, Siri, Shortcuts, Control Center and Live Activities open the right list, and you still confirm it yourself. On Apple Watch you confirm each item. On iPhone, one hold records your list, and items with a photo, NFC tag or Apple Home step pause for that step first.
How do I redeem an offer code?
Tap Redeem code on the Plus page, or open the offer code link on your iPhone while you're signed in to your Apple Account. The App Store shows the offer and you confirm it. A custom offer code can't be typed into the Redeem screen in the App Store's account settings, so use the button or the link.
