Using MarkThatDown

MarkThatDown is a local Markdown editor for macOS. You remain responsible for your files and should retain suitable backups. The app does not take ownership of the Markdown files stored in locations you choose.

The free version

MarkThatDown can be used without paying. Writing, formatting, reading, search, and export or sharing as Markdown or PDF are included at no cost, in as many notes and folders as you like. Your notes are ordinary Markdown files in a folder you choose, and they remain readable and editable whether or not you hold a paid entitlement.

MarkThatDown Pro

Pro adds version history, locked notes, export to Word and HTML, Writing Tools, your own templates and shortcuts, the tag browser and the alternative app icons. It is sold in three ways through the Mac App Store:

Prices vary by country and are converted by Apple. The price, availability and billing terms shown in the Mac App Store at the time of purchase are the ones that apply. Eligible new subscribers receive a 14-day free introductory offer on the annual and monthly plans. Lifetime has no introductory offer because it is not a subscription.

Renewal and cancellation

Payment is charged through your Apple Account. A subscription renews automatically unless canceled through Apple before the next billing period. Pro Lifetime is charged once and has nothing to renew or cancel. You can restore purchases and manage any subscription through the app or your Apple Account.

Availability and liability

Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be excluded by law. To the extent permitted by law, MarkThatDown is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss, including loss caused by unsupported file changes or a failure to keep appropriate backups.
